Uibhean Ostraid

Leis an t-Ollamh Dòmhnall E Meek

This story was commissioned as part of our Gaelic Development work. Hopefully, you will enjoy it and find it useful for learning – both about language and about toys!

An robh sibh trang a’ rolladh uibhean aig deireadh na seachdain?   Tha mi cinnteach gun robh sibh uile shuas air mullach Beinn Haoidhnis a’ rolladh iomadh ubh dathte!   Agus tha mi cinnteach gun robh sibh ag ithe iomadh ubh teoclaid aig an aon àm!

Tha cearcan againne air a’ chroit, ach an-uiridh bha luchd-turais a’ fuireach anns an taigh seo, agus bha iad a’ smaointeachadh gun robh ostraidsean againn cuideachd.

Bha iad a’ rùrach ann am preas, agus fhuair iad dà ubh anabarrach mòr!  Thuirt iad ri Rhoda, ‘A bheil ostraidsean agad air a’ chroit seo?’  Agus thuirt Rhoda, ‘Tha, ach tha iad shìos aig a’ chladach a’ cladhach anns a’ ghainmhich an-dràsda!’

Carson a tha uibhean ostraids anns an taigh seo?

Mar a thuirt mi ann an sgeulachd eile, bha Teàrlach, bràthair mo sheanmhar, na sheòladair, agus bhiodh e a’ toirt rudan neònach dhachaigh.  Aon turas, thug e dhachaigh dà ubh ostraids!

Ach carson?   Chan eil fhios agam, ach tha mi a’ smaointeachadh gun robh e ag iarraidh gum faiceadh an teaghlach uibhean a bha fìor mhòr, seach na h-uibhean beaga aig na cearcan!

Tha mi duilich nach tug Teàrlach dhachaigh ostraids – no dà ostraids!  An uair sin bhiodh uibhean mòra brèagha aig an teaghlach airson am bracaist.

Agus nach biodh e math a bhith a’ rolladh uibhean ostraids air mullach Beinn Haoidhnis air Latha na Càisge?
