Message from Tiree Medical Practice – Self Isolation

SELF ISOLATION

Following the update two days ago, there have been a few questions about what ‘self isolation’ and ‘social distancing‘ means, understandably, as it is a confusing, new and rapidly evolving concept.I hope to be able to clear a few points up here.

More information can be found on the Public Health England Website. For those who are required to ‘self isolate’ – and that includes those who have symptoms of new continuous cough OR fever (for 7 days) and household contacts (for 14 days).

Self Isolation means:Stay at Home.Do not go to work, school or public areas and do not use public transport.

If possible you should not go out even to buy shopping or essentials. You are still free to exercise, as long as you keep a safe distance from others.Do not have visitors in your home.

If you have a vulnerable person living with you, try to ensure they minimise their time spent in shared spaces and try to aim to keep 2m away from them at all times.

Use separate bathrooms where possible and sleep in separate beds. Where this is not possible, ensure these areas are cleaned throuroghly after use. Consider allowing the vulnerable person to use the facilities first.

If you are self isolating and struggling to get shopping, or feeling isolated please see Rona’s previous post about TAIC or call 01631 572975
