Meet Screen Argyll

Screen Argyll are the tenants of the second of our business units!

Screen Argyll supports all forms of film exhibition, promotion and engagement with film throughout Argyll and the Isles. Through screenings, festivals (including Sea Change), film education and community projects, they provide opportunities for remote communities to connect through film and support venues to engage with the widest possible audience.

They have an annual Film Festival and Development Lab which supports women in film called Sea Change, the festival opens on the 20th September with an lots of brilliant women from the world of film here in Tiree and screenings and workshops open to all, including a closing night set from Kim Carnie and her band!

They support a network of community cinemas from across Argyll and up into the Small Isles, helping them to show films and run events.

They run a film education programme across Argyll and the Isles, including an Animation Academy, Alumni programme and Animation School, more details coming soon.

They have our own streaming platform and run online events using it throughout the winter months.

In their words:

When do you plan to open?

We are an office and from October will support Screen Tiree to host screenings for smaller audiences, like our Into Film Club.

What are you most looking forward to?

Being more public facing, having more space, especially now that we have new staff!

How has getting a business unit helped you set up or move your business forward?

It has helped us grow, I don’t know how I fitted everything in our old office – although it was a brilliant place to work! We need to move our screening kit out of Hynish in October so needed the bigger space to accommodate that as well.
