Gaelic Drop-in Sessions

Have you always wondered how to pronounce something in Gaelic? Unsure about Gaelic placenames? Have you always wondered something about Gaelic and never felt you could ask? We’ve got the very thing for you!

Professor Meek is running some informal Gaelic information sessions over the Summer as part of Tabhaich! Tabhaich is a programme run by Fèisean nan Gàidheal and funded through Argyll & Bute Council.

These sessions are intended for visitors and residents who want to acquire some familiarity with Gaelic and its history in Tiree. Topics and questions could include the pronunciation of the island’s Gaelic place-names, and basic everyday phrases. The goal is to help you pick up some Gaelic words, and to gain some idea of how the language works.

As part of this, we are really excited to be launching a Gaelic Heritage Trail with the support of an Iodhlann – so stay tuned!
