FACT CHECK: You might have seen that the Oban Times covered our planning application for 100 solar panels and battery storage at a discreet location behind the Business Units. The bit that was missed out is that, whilst we have the planning permission, we are still exploring funding!
This application was part of a potential project which fell through earlier in the year. We continued with the application because we are exploring solar power as a way of generating income in the future. After all, Tilley won’t be around forever, and her reliability hasn’t been 100% over the last few years.
So, will 100 solar panels shortly be appearing? No! Will they appear at some point? Yes. In fact, there is a good chance that there could be more than 100 dotted about – in a variety of locations. Any larger proposal would, of course, involve public consultation. It’s early days, and we will keep you updated as we go along!
