Following on from last year’s successful Welcome Events, Tiree Trust and The Ranger service will once again be running weekly ‘welcome to Tiree’ events for Summer 2018.
We received a variety of good feedback from those in attendance at last year’s event and have therefore stuck to the original agenda with some slight tweaks. The evening will be chaired by a local Tirisdeach, who will give all in attendance a warm west coast welcome and introduce the audience to Tiree.
We are going to follow the theme ‘20 Things You Didn’t Know about Tiree’, which will be brought to life through presentations from Dr John Holliday and Dr John Bowler and others who might contribute throughout the night.
The ‘welcome events’ will run for 6 weeks through the peak season, offering a taste of Tiree with a spread of delicious homebaking and a cuppa. This will be accompanied by a few tunes or songs from local musicians and performers, which went down very well last year. The first event will take place on the 9th of July and continue each Monday for 6 weeks. However, we are going to hold a one-off event this Easter in order to whet the appetite of early visitors and locals alike.
We will release more details in the next edition of An Tirisdeach, but in the meantime please put a note in your diary for Easter Monday, the 2nd of April where we will run our first event of the year, The Secret Island: ‘Twenty things you didn’t know about Tiree’.
