DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 9am on the Friday 5th of December 2025 – applications should be emailed to shari@tireetrust.org.uk
This project development focussed role is primarily for the purpose of taking forward a funded climate adaptation project in partnership with Open University that involves working with local community members to devise and pilot local solutions / mitigations to climate change related impacts in Tiree, such as increasing extreme weather, coastal erosion, changing wildlife behaviours, etc. The project funding currently runs until July 2026, and as such the role is offered on a temporary contract basis for that period – though there is an ambition to secure further funding to retain the post for ongoing project work.
The role is offered at full time (35hrs/wk), but flexibility is available on this and we are open to discussions around part-time slutions, job-shares, etc. The role will involve community engagement on-site in Tiree, particularly working with an existing group of volunteers, supported by a facilitator chair. In addition to the primary project on climate adaptation, you will form part of the wider project delivery team at the Trust and will support other ongoing work, which may include taking on a lead role for some areas. You will benefit from strong organisational and problem solving skills and some level of previous experience in project development / management is expected, but transferrable experience will be considered.
This role is an excellent opportunity to gain direct community development experience while making a positive difference to the future sustainability of life in a unique community with a strong track record of locally driven community wealth building.
Please contact the Chief Officer, Phyl Meyer, at phyl@tireetrust.org.uk if you have questions or wish to discuss possible options before applying.
