Notice from TAIC Book Exchange

TIME FOR A TIREE BOOK EXCHANGE?

Are you a book lover who has read all the books in the house and are starting the old favourites for a third time? Someone made the suggestion to us this week that we should start up a book exchange, a way of swapping reading matter in a safe way. The virus does not survive on paper for more than 24 hours, so that it should be possible to pass books around safely by simply leaving them in a bag for three days. A shiny hard cover could be wiped down with an alcohol wipe.

The main problem we have to solve is how to put people in contact with each other, so that readers, say, who love western books can exchange titles. If anyone is interested in this idea, please get in touch.

Also growing in popularity are ‘silent zoom’ reading groups, where people simply read a book in each other’s virtual company without a word being spoken. Those who have tried this say that it is a wonderful experience.

And finally, Marion Burns at the Cornaigmore library is still going into work several times a week. If you would like her to choose a selection of books and bring it to your house, please get in touch with her at marion.burns@liveargyll.co.uk. Thank you Marion for going above and beyond!
