Ionad Iomairt Thiriodh – Crossapol Business Units available!

Some updates on the delivery of our Business Units.

Firstly, we are really excited that work with the business units is continuing to progress well, and we’re still on track for completion in early Spring of 2024!

Secondly, one of our prospective tenants has recently found a new option to take forward their project in partnership with another community organisation.

We’re delighted to see a community-focussed solution being developed which has the potential to benefit both groups, and we hope to continue supporting both groups with their work.

As a result two of the 40m2 brand new business units are now up for grabs again! This is a great opportunity for Tiree businesses to grow and develop, and we hope it can act as a springboard for both startups and established businesses alike.

We will be running an allocation process to ensure that applicants are assessed and selected in the fairest way possible.

Our subsidiary company TCEL will be making a commercial decision on the allocation of the units, via a broader community panel.

As the units are due to be ready fairly soon, we are keen to make the allocation decision fairly promptly – so we’d urge those who might be interested to give it thought over the Xmas break and get in touch with us early – the Trust office reopens on Friday 5th January.

Final submission of applications will be due by 5PM on the 5th of February 2024 and we hope to have a decision on applications by the end of February, before the units are completed and ready to open. What support is available?

Separately from the formal process, the Trust itself is keen to offer support to potential applicants. We want to make it easier to put a good plan together.

We recognise how much work is involved. Putting a business plan together can be a daunting process. It can also be a really valuable process – and we are keen to do what we can to help!

For a tour of the space and / or an informal discussion about potential proposals, please contact Phyl Meyer at phyl@tireetrust.org.uk. We’d encourage anyone interested in applying to get in touch with us as early as possible.

For support with developing a business plan or starting up your business, get in touch with Business Gateway (Argyll & Bute branch). They offer free one to one support by phone or video call from experienced business advisors, including one-hour expert help surgeries on a variety of topics.
