What is the Cruas Digital Clinic?

The Cruas Digital Clinic is a digital drop-in service where residents can ask for support to use a digital device or access digital services on an informal and ad-hoc basis. We also run workshops that are tailored to specific needs in the community.

Our goal is to improve our community’s collective digital literacy, supporting residents to have increased autonomy and independence and tackle the digital divide.

Got an idea for a workshop? We want to hear from you! Get in touch via email, phone, or pop into the office to speak to us.

What is the digital divide?

Those in our community living without internet access are at risk of being left behind, unsupported, as digital-first approaches become the norm; this creates a digital divide

The digital divide refers to the gap between those with access to the internet and digital technology – and those without access.

The digital divide is complex, but the Cruas Digital Clinic looks to address a few influential factors.

  • Availability (is there an accessible internet connection for you to access?)
  • Affordability (is the cost to access reasonable?)
  • Quality (are the speeds sufficient for the needs of users?)
  • Relevance (does the community have the necessary skills and technologies to utilise the internet?)

The Cruas Digital Clinic exists to improve digital literacy and promote digital inclusion to tackle the digital divide.

UK National Databank

We are a UK National Databank partner. The aim of the UK National Databank is to provide free access to the internet to those who are unable to get online.

It is easy to take internet access for granted, but those going without are disconnected from loved ones, unable to manage their digital admin & finances, and cannot access public digital services.

We can provide sim cards with free calls and texts, as as well as a data allowance through the National Databank. You must be:

  • 18+ years old
  • From a low income household
