October Update

As anyone who has passed through Crossapol lately will have seen, the last months have seen huge progress in the construction of the four new light commercial units being built under our subsidiary Tiree Community Enterprise Ltd.
Local contractor John MacKinnon Builders Ltd completed the foundation slab work in early September, and assembly of the timber frame kits has quickly followed. Work has also progressed on the pad for the new transformer which SSEN will be installing to provide electricity supply to the site. We are still targeting a February 2024 completion date for the project
Following advertising for expressions of interest and then an application process, the provisional allocation of the units to prospective tenants has now been completed.
We would like to thank the volunteer representatives from other community groups that kindly took part in the panel, alongside members of the Business Units working group, to oversee the robust and fair process of allocation.
The official announcement of who will be occupying the units once completed will be made in due course once we reach the point of signing leases – but there are exciting developments to come
Business Units Allocations
Tiree Community Enterprise Ltd. (TCEL) will construct 4 light commercial business units in Crossapol, on a site directly west of the Island Centre. All units will have three phase power supply. Due to the high level of interest in the units, TCEL will conduct a formal allocations process to determine which interested parties will be allocated a business unit. Business Units – Invitation to Tender
We are now at the stage of compiling a tender list for the construction of the business units at Crosspol. The 180m² building will consist of 4 business units in a single structure. Tiree Community Development Trust are seeking expressions of interest from construction companies to be included in the tender list.
