We’re only at the end of July and already Tiree has been a hive of activity with a variety of very successful summer events!
July was kicked off in traditional Tiree style with the launch of Fèis Thiriodh at the start of the month. An excellent week of music, Gaelic, drama, songs and much more. You can read all about the week of activities by clicking here!
The population of Tiree more than trebled over the weekend of the 15th – 17th of July as Tiree Music Festival 2016 commenced. Despite the challenging weather of constant rain, the show still went on and we were treated to an excellent weekend of live music, fringe events and excellent food! It seemed like no time at passed at all, when Crossapol was gearing up for another event, as The Tiree Agricultural Society Show committee were hard at work preparing the grounds for the annual Agricultural Show. Blessed with lovely weather Show Day was again another great success, with a variety of animals on show, excellent homegrown produce and crafts, entertainment from the Tiree Young Farmers and the Argyll Ceilidh Trail who also went on to entertain at the well-attended evening dance! Another great Tiree event!
The next day it was on to the Tiree Associations Annual Sports day, which was well attended by young and old. A variety of races and classes featured throughout the day, including the popular heavy events and fiercely competitive tug-o-war. The Annual Tiree Association Dance will take place on Friday with Ho-Ro providing the music!
Tiree Trust would like to congratulate all of the committees involved in creating an excellent calendar of Summer Events and various events throughout the year. All of these committees are run by dedicated volunteers who give up their free time to organise and put on events for the island – well done!
There are still various summer events to take place, including the annual Tiree Regatta this Saturday. So make sure you have a look at our diary on the right for lots of information regarding what’s on on Tiree
