The safety of our customers, staff and contractors has always been our number one priority and during the coronavirus pandemic, we have added extra safety and hygiene measures to keep everyone safe as we carry out our critical work.
A key part of our commitment to safety is the on-going inspection of our equipment, and the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 do not impact our legal requirement to ensure statutory inspections are carried out on any lifting equipment, accessories and plant to ensure it remains safe to use.
We have therefore arranged for a Lifting Tackle Inspector from British Engineering Services to travel to Tiree next week to check our lifting equipment on the island to help ensure a safe, reliable and resilience supply of electricity to our customers.
To minimise the impact of these critical works, the inspector will be staying in self-catering accommodation and bringing their own food supplies for the short duration of their stay. They will also be strictly adhering to government guidelines on social distancing, with enhanced safety and hygiene measures, including wearing appropriate PPE, regularly wiping down their equipment with sanitiser and securely disposing of gloves or other ‘one-use’ items upon completion of the work.
