Its\u202fdramatic coastal setting\u202foverlooks Balephuil Bay&nbsp;(Tr\u00e0igh&nbsp;Bhi)&nbsp;and has long made the site a place of reflection,&nbsp;folklore&nbsp;and local memory. The chapel stands at\u202fthe foot of&nbsp;Kenavara&nbsp;(Ceann a\u2019 Mhara), a headland on the west side of\u202fthe&nbsp;Bay. The site&nbsp;likely originated&nbsp;as an\u202fearly Christian monastic settlement dating from around the\u202f7th\u20138th century AD, in the period of early Celtic Christianity influenced by Iona.&nbsp;&nbsp;The nearby&nbsp;Uamh&nbsp;Chaluim&nbsp;Ch\u00e8aird&nbsp;(cave of Calum the tinker) is thought to be a late Neolithic or Bronze Age burial chamber \u2026 or is it just a natural perched rock?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Start \/ End:<\/strong>\u202fBalephuil Bay \/&nbsp;Tr\u00e0igh&nbsp;Bhi&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Park and Meet:<\/strong>&nbsp;Balephuil Bay Beach (Tr\u00e0igh&nbsp;Bhi).
