Tiree Trust Secures Fuel Station Funding

Tiree Trust has been successful in a bid to secure over half a million pounds in funding to build a new fuel station next to Buth a’ Bhaille in Crossapol on land already owned by The Trust.

Both Highlands and Islands Enterprise and The National Lottery Community Assets Fund have approved bids and will support the development of the community owned, 24 hour, self service facility.

The Trust has now begun the process of procuring final design and engineering services and hope to be able to tender for a main contractor soon. Original timescales planned for the work to be completed by spring 2021, however it is not yet clear whether the Covid-19 pandemic will have an impact, for example on tank manufacturing time or contractors availibility.

The project will be operated via a new VAT registered Trading company (wholly owned by The Trust) and we are now seeking up to 4 volunteers to join the board of directors. If you think you have some skills or experience to offer or would like to know more please contact andy@tireetrust.org.uk
