Customers of Tiree Broadband will have been suffering from very slow download speeds since Thursday 15th January. This is due to a BT fault that, unfortunately, is outwith our control. Tiree Broadband is fed by a ‘back-haul’ of 5 BT lines situated in An Iodhlann in Scarinish. The signal is then distributed to our customers around the island via a wireless radio network.
Because we do not have a contract with BT directly (our provider, Eclipse, rents the line from BT) we are having trouble getting any information. We have reported the issue to the Scottish Government Critical Infrastructure Resilience Unit who are working with BT trying to help establish where the fault is. We would like to assure all Tiree Broadband Customers that we are working around the clock to ensure that the fault is fixed swiftly and we are very sorry for any inconvenience it will undoubtedly have caused.
In the meantime to ensure that customers are kept up to date with service information in future we are asking that all Tiree Broadband customers give us a note of their mobile phone number and we can send updates by text in the future.
