Following Scottish Government guidance, we took the decision in March that the majority of our planned work, including our capital investment programme, would be temporarily paused to protect public health.
In response to the latest guidance, reflecting the need to prioritise investment that is considered essential to the delivery of public services, we have established a regular review to identify projects that fall into this category.
This has identified the need to carry out maintenance works at the Tiree Water Treatment Works We would like to emphasise that work on essential projects will only restart with strict measures in place to ensure safe working practices and social distancing.
We also appreciate additional sensitives with carrying out work in remote and island communities and have taken appropriate measures to minimise any risk by putting strict measures in place to ensure safe working practices and social distancing.
There are 2 phases of work which need to be carried out and the initial works will involve the cleaning of the supply Bore Holes in fields located separate to the Treatment Works. This is due to commence from the 19th of May. The 2 man squad carrying out the work have put in place measures to ensure they are isolated from the community. In addition there is the requirement to carry out a change of the filters at the treatment works, again this work has been carefully planned.
