On Wednesday 27th February the Trust met with Stuart Miller, Regional Manager for the Co-operative food store after some members of the community had expressed concern about the rise in prices and reduction in stock available at the Tiree Co-op store. On pricing, Mr Miller said they were looking at ways of keeping costs down and are looking at pricing by type of store rather than size of store as is the current method. On reduction of range Mr Miller said “various changes to the core range have already taken place due to customer feedback such as extended home baking and spices range. If a customer wishes to purchase a non-ranged product, the store can add these in at set times throughout the year if space allows, or can purchase a whole case if they wish. The store has a request book at the kiosk, and whilst not being a guarantee to stock, the manager can either add in to the range, or escalate through myself if this is not possible.” Mr Miller also added “the fresh departments in the store are key to providing the best service that we can, and we are committed to ensuring these remain a major focus area in store.” The Trust has agreed to have a follow up meeting in 3 months’ time for an update.
