Scarinish Harbour Repairs – Lochshell Engineering are due to arrive on site in mid-March to begin the repairs to Scarinish Harbour. This will involve repairing the walls of the main pier, inserting reinforcement inside the end of the structure to tie it together, resurfacing the top and adding new ladders and moving rings. The old landing pier on the opposite side of the bay will also be shored up to ensure it does not get any worse. Funding for this work has been secured from Marine Scotland.
Haoidhnis – Discussions are still on-going between TCDT and the Hebridean Trust regarding the transfer of the Assets at Hynish. This is expected to take a while longer as some of the legal details are agreed and this is in the hands of the lawyers now. We will keep you posted on progress.
Crossapol Beach Parking – The Tiree Ranger Service has been working towards improved parking and access to Crossapol Beach for 2018. Repairs have been made to the old parking area on the Reef, thanks to William Angus MacLean, Parky (IA MacKinnon Haulage) and Neil MacPhail for their time and generosity in supplying Labour, Plant and fuel respectively. We now have an agreement with Argyll Communities Housing Association (ACHA) to use the area opposite Buth a’ Bhaile to create a new parking area and we will be working hard to get this ready for summer 2018.
Tilley – The community turbine has suffered from a generator fault which has caused a substantial amount of down time during January and February. Enercon, the manufacturer, will cover all repairs including parts under our maintenance agreement and are confident that have bypassed the fault for now meaning that we are currently restricted from 900kW to 600kW. Tiree Renewable Energy Ltd (TREL) are currently evaluating an insurance claim for lost income during this time.
