As reported at the end of last year Tiree Trust has recently been successful in raising a total of £25,000 through the Scottish Government, Argyll & Bute Council and Highlands & Islands Enterprise to undertake a Socio-Economic Study and community planning exercise.
The main funding will come from The Scottish Government Charrette Mainstreaming Programme 2015-16 and the result will give Tiree an updated Socio-Economic Study (last done in 2004) as well as a 4 day ‘Charrette’ (Intensive, inclusive planning and design workshops) which will help to generate new thinking about our future needs. This information will also feed into the Tiree Community Growth Plan which is due to be re-drafted in 2016. Ironside Farrar has been selected to lead the project and has good knowledge of Tiree and its community following their Tiree Onshore Scenario Mapping Project which looked at the potential onshore impacts of the previously proposed Argyll Array Windfarm development.
We have now confirmed two dates for initial workshops and focus groups, which will be led by Ironside Farrar. Details about the workshops are listed below and more exact timings and information will be released in due course. We encourage all members of the community to get involved in this exercise and input into the process.
Please stay tuned for more information coming soon and make sure you put these dates in your diary!
