The Community Shop steering group has now been formed with 9 members of the community, plus 2 Trust Directors and myself Jackie Jones as the Trust facilitator. I am in contact with various bodies who have either experience with community-owned shops or can offer the Tiree Community their support and I have submitted an application to the Investing in Ideas programme of the Big Lottery Fund. If successful this money will be used for the feasibility study which will look into the viability of owning and operating a community shop. The study will also involve community consultation so you will all have the opportunity to provide input over the next few months.
