Community Bonfire & Fireworks Display 2015
The last minute decision to take advantage of the weather window well and truly paid off and we hope you all enjoyed this year’s bonfire and fireworks display!
We had a stunning day on Sunday the 22nd of November that turned into a perfect evening to hold the event. The giant bonfire, kindly built by the Tiree Young Farmers was lit just after 5pm and helped to warm us up a little. This year we went all out and had two guys perched on top, prepared by the children at Beavers and Sradagan, and they didn’t take long to disappear.
The evening was well attended and everyone enjoyed delicious soup and burgers prepared and served up by our fantastic An Talla committee! Everyone looked to be enjoying the evening, the children taking advantage of the excellent weather – playing up and down the dunes all evening and enjoying the sparklers too.
The fireworks were due to start at 6pm and they did not disappoint! We had over 30 minutes of ohhs and awws, bangs and pops and they looked truly fantastic! Overall the whole event was a great success, we hope you all enjoyed it and had enough notice to make plans to attend.
At the start of the month we ran the Bonfire Picture competition and received loads of excellent pictures. The competition winners are as follows: Pre 5: Orla MacLennan, P1: Annie MacLennan, P2: Casey Colthart, P3: Molly Knowles, P4: Aedan MacDonald, P5: Robyn Larg, P6: Emily Armstrong and P7: Erin Byfield. Well done to all the winners, you can view their pictures by clicking here.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who helped to make the night so successful, An Talla Committee for the excellent food, Tiree Young Farmers for building the bonfire and to all who donated wood, Beavers and Sradagan for the excellent guys, Cameron Smith, Stewart MacLennan, Paul Le Roux and Andy Wright for lighting the fire and letting off the fireworks and Arran Reid for lending us his generator. And a big thank you to everyone who attended. A true community effort!
