With a 15% decline in the population between the census years of 2001 to 2011 – it is long overdue that the issue of depopulation was addressed on Tiree. Around 40 people came along to the forum event, organised by Argyll and Bute council, with input from Tiree Trust. The event was arranged in order to give local residents a chance to discuss issues relating to depopulation, with discussion groups focusing on topics such as infrastructure, education, economy, safe communities, healthier lives and various other topics that came up within the groups. There were a lot of good discussions going on around An Talla, with local people having their chance to discuss their views on Tiree and whether it is a good place to live, work and play. The findings and suggestions from Saturday’s event will now be presented to the Community Planning Partnership and to Councillors responsible for each of the six outcome areas. The information will then help to shape and influence the Single Outcome Agreement Delivery Plan, which is due for completion at the end of May.
