• Following on from successful Charrette process conducted last year, Tiree Trust has been working to create the new Tiree Growth Plan 2017 – 2020. which will be published to the community for consultation by the end of May.
• The Tiree Ranger Service has been under the management of Tiree Trust since late 2016, with Stephanie Cope taking on the position in January of this year. Stephanie has settled into the role very well and keeps us very informed through her excellent blog pieces found here. There is also a copy of her latest blog ‘A Mermaid’s Purse’ on page 15
• This month, Tiree Trust have met with representatives from the Hebridean Trust to discuss detailed plans for Tiree Trust to take on the ownership and management of the Hebridean Trust buildings in Hynish. This has been a long process but progress is being made. Once details and a business plan are agreed these will be presented to the community and a ballot held.
• Tirisdich Còmhla – a group set up to investigate the possibility of amalgamating the larger community groups on Tiree, held their second meeting at the beginning of the month. The minutes from these meetings can be found on The Trust website once they have been approved by the group.
• The Music and Culture Coordinator has been helping the Piping Society to secure funding to continue with the Piping Tuition Project on the island and this month learnt that they were successful in receiving the remaining 50% match funding from Argyll and Bute Supporting Communities Fund.
• The Tiree Harbours Steering Group continue to make good progress – Moorings will be installed at Gott Bay in May, a Planning Application has been submitted for proposed development of Milton Harbour and an engineer’s report is due to be received this week giving feedback and estimates for repair options for Scarinish Harbour.
