April News Bites

 

  • We are very pleased to report that the repair works to Scarinish Harbour are now complete. The pier head has been rebuilt and stabilised with reinforced concrete, the deck has been resurfaced and five sets of new ladders with timber buffers/fenders installed. The old mid tide pier on the west of the harbour has also received some much-needed repair works to make it safe again.
  • Final design details for Milton Harbour development will be complete soon and the project will go out to tender this summer with a view to starting work in Spring 2019. Any local contractors who may be interested should contact Andy for more details.
  • The Ranger Service Guided Walk Programme kicked off at the beginning of the month. Walks take place every Thursday at 2pm (weather permitting), a full list of dates and locations can be found here. 
  • 2018 updated Visitor Maps are now available for collection from The Trust Office. They include all local businesses and places of interest, a must for any holiday home or tourist business.
  • We have been successful in receiving funding for two of our core ongoing projects.
    • £4,000 was received from Bord na Gaidhlig which will go towards the Music and Culture Project which helps to support Gaelic development and cultural events on the island.
    • £42,000 has been awarded over 3 years from The Robertson Trust as a contribution to extend the provision of the Youth Work Project which supports and leads a number of youth groups and youth initiatives on the island.
