WHO IS THIS FOR?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All are welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No prior knowledge is needed – come and enjoy the walk and find out about our early history. If you\u2019re a keen history buff, brilliant, let\u2019s share notes. Each walk will be limited to 8 participants. Don\u2019t worry, if there\u2019s the demand, we\u2019ll try and meet it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHO WILL BE LEADING THE WALKS?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The walks are a collaboration between the Tiree Trust and An Iodhlann, Tiree\u2019s historical centre. Magnus Robinson will be lead the walks with support from Dr John Holliday and An Iodhlann. Magnus is based in Tiree, is studying for an Archaeology degree and has a keen interest in the sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW DO I BOOK?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll advertise the likely routes each week. Please email archaeology@tireetrust.org.uk<\/a> for details or to book a spot. We\u2019re happy to discuss alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The walks are free but if you feel you able, donations are welcome and would be split between the Tiree Trust and An Iodhlann to help support their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRACTICAL DETAILS<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

  • Weather:<\/strong> All walks are dependent on weather and conditions underfoot. We\u2019ll keep in touch and let you know if it\u2019s necessary to rearrange times and dates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Terrain:<\/strong> Generally, walks well be mostly flat tracks, beach sand and grassland, but be prepared for some soft ground near the shore and mud.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Suitability:<\/strong> Walks which some may find a little more strenuous are marked with a star (*) and we\u2019ll be happy to discuss what the route might entail. The decision whether to join the walk is yours. Please get in touch to discuss any accessibility requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Footwear:<\/strong> Firm-soled walking shoes or boots are best \u2014 parts of the routes or the sites can be muddy or uneven.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Be prepared: <\/strong>Conditions on Tiree can change quickly; bring layers and waterproofs, water and sunscreen!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Rights of Access:<\/strong> Scotland\u2019s outdoor access rights allow us to explore responsibly across open land and coastal areas. Please be mindful that grazing animals are all around us in Tiree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Dogs:<\/strong> Well behaved dogs are permitted with prior agreement with a limit of 2 in total for each walk. Please remember that many of the sites are reached or surrounded by machair and grazing land, so please keep dogs on a lead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>", "protected": false }, "excerpt": { "rendered": "
