Community Information Technology Ltd, trading as ‘Tiree Broadband’ is a not for profit company established to provide broadband access to the people of Tiree. The company owns and operates a commercial quality wireless network linked to a multi-feed ADSL backhaul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wireless network allows Tiree Broadband to reach areas of the island outwith the reach of conventional broadband. CIT Ltd is a company limited by shares with 100% of the shares owned by Tiree Community Development Trust.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tiree Broadband currently has over 150 private and business customers on the island offering a 10mb\/s download speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We regret to inform you that new Tiree Broadband contracts are only available to permanent residents<\/strong> who are unable<\/em> to obtain a broadband service through the telephone line. This is due to the increasing strain on our limited network resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have recently purchased a property and intend to live here permanently <\/em>and are unable to obtain a broadband service through the telephone line. We do however strongly suggest you check other options before requesting Tiree Broadband. Tiree Broadband offers a maximum of 10Mbs. If you can access 4g or Starlink, you may find these to be a better solution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have recently purchased a property and will not be a permanent resident<\/strong>, then we cannot<\/em> offer you a Tiree Broadband contract – even if the equipment was previously installed in the property. We recommend BT fibre, 4g or Starlink. We will be in touch to recover the equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This policy may change in future, but we do not anticipate any change ahead of the R100 rollout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We may ask you to prove your residential status by means of the Electoral Roll.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
