Our Gaelic Student Placement, Eilidh, organised for The Tobar an Dualchais Project, which translates as The Heritage/Culture Well to come across to Tiree on Friday 20th of June. They brought archived Tiree recordings along with them for us all to listen to, including stories & songs, and explained to us how we can access them on a daily basis. The recordings were part of an informal ceilidh where everyone was welcomed to sing a song, play a tune and discuss the various recordings. Renowned Gaelic Singer Margaret Stewart was also there to give us a few songs and put her own twist on the various recordings, many of which she had worked on while a cataloguer with the Tobar an Dualchais Project. The evening was well attended and enjoyed by all who came along. Many thanks to the local musicians who came along to give us a few tunes and also to The Tiree Lodge Hotel for their assistance in putting the evening together.
