On Wednesday 8th July the chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has offered firms a \u00a31,000 bonus for every furloughed employee they keep on until the end of January, and pay at least \u00a3520 a month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government\u2019s furlough scheme will close in October. The scheme has been paying up to 80% of the wages of nine million people who can\u2019t work because of the coronavirus pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furloughed employees can now go back to work part-time, and from August, employers will have to pay National Insurance and pension contributions for their staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September, they will have to pay 10% of their furloughed employees\u2019 salaries \u2013 rising to 20% in October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
