The main findings of the reports will be presented to the community at a public meeting on Wednesday 26th October, 7:30pm at An Talla.
Tiree Master Planning Bids Successful
TCDT received news last week that we have been successful in raising a total of £25,000 through the Scottish Government, Argyll & Bute Council and Highlands & Islands Enterprise to undertake a Socio-Economic Study and Master Planning exercise. The main funding will come from The Scottish Government Charrette Mainstreaming Programme 2015-16 and the result will give Tiree an updated Socio-Economic Study (last done in 2004) as well as a 4 day ‘Charrette’ (Intensive, inclusive planning and design workshops) which will help to ‘Master Plan’ the aspirations of the community as we try to tackle the de-population of the island. This information will also feed into the Tiree Community Growth Plan which is due to be re-drafted in 2016. Ironside Farrar has been selected to lead the project and has good knowledge of Tiree and its community following their Tiree Onshore Scenario Mapping Project which looked at the potential onshore impacts of the previously proposed Argyll Array Windfarm development. Keep checking here for more information on the project, which will be available soon.
